CARACAS CABLE CAR ROOF
Urban Think Tank an architectural office located in New York and Caracas called us to use our experience using fibre reinforced concrete.
The Caracas cable station is an idea to support the favellas with medicine, water and an easy way to transport anything that is needed to these high and dense settlement.
To avoid heavy constructions for the roof system a lightweight solution was developed with the use of fibre reinforced sandwich constructions. The idea also contains the possibility to let the inhabitants of the favellas help built the structure, so they feel involved and it becomes part of their life.
Unfortunately the local building company prefered to build their own solution without the help of the inhabitants.
